An idea of creation a new zone (zone 7) on 2:R50@fidonet base was discussed first time in Russia in 1992. Then, in 1994-1995, after several discussions and alot of flame in r50.sysop echo, TestZone7 project was started. Now TestZone7 joins about 300 nodes, they have own echoes, netmail routing and so on. But, TestZone7 is't FidoNet part, it is just test-zone - no more.
Been interested in R50->Z7 moving project, I arrange a poll among NCs of R50, and results of this poll is very interesting. You can read here poll reports, FAQs, different views of problem ->Z7Poll(Russian lang, KOI8 - CP 878)
Project is in beta-testing stage. We have got a working version of software (author of MVS-compartible packet handler - Adel Chepckunov, 2:5049/57), look: ftp://ftp.n5049.z2.fidonet.net/pub/mvs.

file in official WWB fileecho for current zone 2 Region 50 (Russia)
WWB coordinator (now Andrey Podkolzin 2:5030/115 mdh@sut.ru). Most of
listed echoes are present in Internet news, for example at www.dejanews.com
